This Deepavali, Bombay Sweet Shop has partnered with Starbucks India to introduce an exclusive range of festive desserts, merging Starbucks’ signature coffee notes with Bombay Sweet Shop’s contemporary mithai flavors. The newly launched limited-edition collection features several innovative treats, including a gulab jamun trifle with mascarpone and white chocolate, a khubani barfi bar infused with apricot jam, and a white chocolate kaju nankhatai, reimagining the traditional kaju nankhatai.
“We aimed to create something unique that resonates with the festive season and evokes cherished memories,” said Mitali Maheshwari, head of product and marketing at Starbucks India. Among the standout offerings is the Coffee Choco Bark, available at bombaysweetshop. This treat is a twist on Bombay Sweet Shop’s signature Choco Butterscotch Bark, featuring Starbucks’ 3% Arabica coffee beans, roasted almonds, and sea salt. “This dessert beautifully balances rich coffee flavors with sweet, salty, and nutty notes,” Maheshwari added.
In addition to the desserts, the collaboration includes an exclusive beverage range, featuring a saffron pistachio latte, saffron pistachio frappuccino, saffron masala chai, and saffron cold brew.
Collaboration is not new for Bombay Sweet Shop. In 2022, they partnered with Parle-G to create desserts like Parle-G fudge and Chai Biscuit Choco Barks. Their 2023 Christmas collection also included a collaboration with Netflix’s The Archies. Sameer Seth, founder and CEO of Hunger Inc. Hospitality, emphasized their commitment to capturing the essence of each offering and bringing back familiar flavors. “The most challenging aspect is perfecting the taste and texture, ensuring that the flavors harmonize seamlessly and that every product provides an exceptional experience for our guests,” he explained.
One concept that did not make it into this edition was the Saffron Cream Cheese Danish, inspired by the traditional Diwali dessert rabdi. “We envisioned it as a modern twist, but the texture didn’t meet our standards, so we opted not to launch it at this time,” Seth noted. He concluded by assuring that they will continue to refine the creation until it achieves the desired quality.
