Last month, Dutch Bros took aim at the legendary seasonal McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. By crafting two unique versions of their own, the coffee chain struck a chord with its loyal fan base, achieving remarkable success. Now, the Oregon-based coffee powerhouse has set its sights on a new rival: Starbucks.
Starbucks introduced its Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha and Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte last spring, receiving a variety of feedback. Despite the mixed reviews, these beverages were popular enough to make a comeback this year. Not one to be outdone, Dutch Bros is hot on Starbucks’ trail. The company is reintroducing its highly anticipated lavender-infused offerings, presenting a formidable challenge to Starbucks.
Dutch Bros Revives Its White Chocolate Lavender Beverage Line
This week, Dutch Bros made an exciting announcement: its beloved lavender flavor has returned just in time for the spring season. The drive-thru coffee chain first incorporated lavender into its menu in 2020 for a limited period. It wasn’t until 2023 that the flavor made a reappearance with the launch of the White Chocolate Lavender Cold Brew, Breve, and Freeze.
Now, the sought-after limited-edition springtime flavor is back on the menu. All three of the seasonal drinks, which have won the hearts of fans with their combination of lavender and white chocolate, are once again available.
Dutch Bros customers have a range of choices. The White Chocolate Lavender Breve Cold Brew is made with espresso, a blend of half-and-half, and the delightful flavors of white chocolate and lavender. The White Chocolate Lavender Cold Brew features cold-brewed coffee, cream, and the same delicious white chocolate and lavender flavors. Or, customers can opt for the White Chocolate Lavender Freeze, a frozen concoction that combines espresso, half-and-half, ice, white chocolate flavor, and lavender flavor. Each of these three drink options is topped off with Dutch Bros’ signature Soft Top, the brand’s creamy and sweet cold foam. Additionally, customers have the option to add lavender flavoring to other beverages, such as tea or lemonade.
The brand shared the exciting news of the springtime lineup’s return on Instagram, stating, “Your wish is our command… Lavender is SO back.” Fans were quick to respond with enthusiasm, with comments like “My dreams finally come true” and expressions of extreme happiness. One particularly thrilled fan exclaimed on another social media post, “I HAVE BEEN WAITING MY ENTIRE LIFE FOR THIS I AM SO HAPPY.”
Many devoted fans are urging the chain to make the lavender-flavored drinks a permanent part of the menu. In response, the company replied on Instagram that it would “let the right people know!”
Allrecipes editor Deanne Revel decided to visit the drive-thru and sample the lavender flavoring, this time in a lemonade. While Revel found that Starbucks’ lavender flavor had a slightly soapy taste, she was pleasantly surprised by Dutch Bros’ offering. She described the Dutch Bros lavender as “light, subtle, and perfect for their tangy lemonade,” adding that it brought back memories of her summer in Provence.
Currently, all three lavender drinks are part of Dutch Bros’ seasonal menu, meaning they aren’t permanent—at least for now. So, if you’re eager to indulge in the delightful lavender flavor, don’t miss the opportunity this spring.
