Recently, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a public health alert, which is directly targeted at the Yummy Dino Buddies Holiday Nuggets sold at Costco. The investigation has revealed that these imported frozen chicken products from Canada did not go through a rigorous inspection process upon entering the United States.
There are several key pieces of information regarding this incident. Firstly, this is not a product recall. Currently, the product is no longer available in stores, but consumers may still have it stored in their home refrigerators. Secondly, as of now, there have been no reports of any illnesses caused by the consumption of this product. However, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the USDA strongly urges consumers to remain vigilant due to the lack of inspection of the product. Finally, this product was only sold at the Costco store located at 7095 Marketplace Drive, Goleta, California.
To identify the problematic product, consumers can refer to the following information. The product name is Yummy Dino Buddies Holiday Nuggets, which are breaded nugget-shaped white meat chicken patties. The packaging specification is a 5-pound box. On the product label, the “Best If Used By” date is November 6, 2026, the lot number is 241556, and the Canadian establishment number is 348. Consumers can also visit the FSIS alert page to view product images for further confirmation.
For consumers who may have this product at home, the USDA recommends checking their refrigerators immediately. If the involved product is found, they can return it to Costco for a refund or discard it directly. Under no circumstances should they consume it.
This alert is of great significance. Imported food that has not been inspected may not meet the food safety standards of the United States. Although there have been no reported health issues so far, the FSIS, from a safety perspective, still recommends taking the measure of discarding the product.
If consumers have any questions or need assistance, they can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888 – MPHotline (888 – 674 – 6854) for consultation.
