Walmart is responding to rising consumer demand for healthier options by launching a new line of organic condiments in partnership with Glen Powell’s brand, Smash Kitchen. The products, available in stores and online, include traditional condiments like ketchup, mayo, mustard, and barbecue sauce, as well as Hot Honey Ketchup and Hot Honey BBQ Sauce. These items are free from high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, and additives.
The new line caters to consumers seeking organic and minimally processed foods, with plans to expand into other pantry essentials. Powell, who co-founded the brand, created the products after noticing the unhealthy ingredients in common pantry items.
Prices range from $2.17 to $4.97.
Walmart’s partnership with Smash Kitchen is part of its strategy to introduce innovative, healthier products. The retailer has also seen success with its private brand, Bettergood, which features plant-based products. Walmart’s growing “modern soda” category, offering healthier alternatives with probiotics, has also drawn attention.
The U.S. wellness market is growing rapidly, worth $480 billion and expanding 10% annually, according to McKinsey. Other companies, like PepsiCo and Coca-Cola, are also tapping into the health-focused food and beverage trend, with PepsiCo’s $1.95 billion acquisition of Poppi and Coca-Cola’s new “gut-healthy” soda, Simply Pop.
