Dot Foods Canada, a subsidiary of the American food redistributor Dot Foods, has inaugurated a new $50 million plant in Ingersoll. The facility spans 168,875 square feet and is located at 100 Ken McKee Street, near Highway 401. Currently employing 70 people, plans are underway for an expansion that will increase the workforce to 200 over the next three to five years.
Dot Foods CEO Dick Tracy emphasized the opportunities in the Canadian market, citing incredible growth since establishing operations in Canada seven years ago. The Ingersoll plant construction began in September the previous year, with dry products moved into the warehouse in May and refrigerated and frozen products stocked in June. An expansion of the freezer section is also nearing completion. The facility is designed for easy expansion, with the potential to add up to 350,000 additional square feet based on future customer demand.
Additionally, on-site garage facilities and a gate station will be added in the coming years to support Dot Foods’ transportation division. The plant replaces the company’s leased facility in Brampton, with employees given the option to relocate to the new location.
To mark the official opening, Dot Foods Canada donated $50,000 to six local nonprofit organizations. Among the recipients, the United Way of Oxford County and the Alzheimer’s Society in London received $10,000 each, while the Salvation Army in London and Ingersoll, the Fusion Centre in Ingersoll, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Oxford County each received $7,500. These donations align with the company’s charitable focus areas, which include fighting hunger, addressing food insecurity, and aiding those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Dot Foods made a similar $50,000 donation to area charities the previous fall.
