After a four-year journey marked by accolades and a commitment to promoting plant-based eating, Food Nation, the renowned plant-based meal company, has decided to close its doors. The decision stems from the realization that additional investments required to further develop the company wouldn’t yield the anticipated returns.
Founded in Auckland in 2019 by sisters Miranda Burdon and Josie Lambert, Food Nation embarked on its mission to encourage the consumption of more plant-based foods, benefitting both people and the planet. The duo, daughters of former cabinet minister Philip Burdon, who co-founded Meadow Mushrooms, crafted a product line with mushrooms at its core. Their focus was on creating center-plate options, including delectable offerings such as super sausies, amaze balls, happy patties, and magic mince, all presented in eye-catching, vibrant packaging.
In an email addressed to their valued customers, aptly titled “Time to Say Goodbye and Thank You,” the sisters conveyed their decision to halt production. They indicated that they would be concluding their final batches this week, with the last orders scheduled for dispatch on Wednesday.
