How does one improve upon a beloved local restaurant? Wing Pak, the proprietor of the recently unveiled Emma’s in San Rafael, is on a mission to ensure that the cherished aspects of the former establishment, Ping’s Mandarin, are preserved and enhanced through updates and enhancements.
While many menu items at Emma’s closely mirror those offered at Ping’s, Pak is infusing a fresh perspective by elevating some dishes to a more contemporary taste. Drawing on his extensive experience in the realm of fine dining, he is propelling certain items into the 21st century.
“Emma’s offers a contemporary twist on traditional Chinese cuisine,” Pak affirms. “We have meticulously curated our menu to encompass a fusion of classic dishes and inventive creations that highlight the rich flavors and ingredients found in China’s diverse regional culinary traditions.”
Emma’s, which celebrated a soft opening on August 14th, has introduced seasonal menus to further captivate diners’ palates. For the period spanning August to October, offerings include Vegetable Pancake Bites – a delightful twist on a timeless classic; Sesame Tofu, featuring chilled tofu adorned with a savory homemade sesame sauce; and Curry Chicken Buns, which showcase tender chicken enveloped in an aromatic curry sauce, nestled within a fluffy bun.
Additionally, Emma’s has plans to introduce a lunchtime dim sum service, further enhancing its culinary offerings and ensuring that patrons experience a multifaceted culinary journey that celebrates both tradition and innovation.
