After much anticipation fueled by social media speculations, KFC Australia has confirmed the return of one of its most sought-after menu items since 2021, alongside the introduction of a new burger.
The Double, a beloved limited-edition burger, distinguished by two Original Crispy fillets replacing traditional sandwich bread, initially debuted in Australia back in 2011. Its arrival instantly propelled it to cult status among chicken enthusiasts.
Over the years, the Double has seen various iterations, including the Zinger Mozzarella Double, Zinger Tower Double, and the Pizza Double.
Starting June 11, three variations of the Double burger will grace KFC menus across Australia, with availability extending until July 8.
The spotlight shines on the latest addition, the Waffle Double, arguably the most controversial spin on the iconic burger. This newcomer boasts a breakfast-inspired ensemble, featuring bacon and smokey maple mayonnaise nestled between two fillets of the new Original Crispy chicken.
Joining the Waffle Double are the returning classics, the Original Double and Zinger Double, making a triumphant comeback to KFC restaurants nationwide.
Patrons have the flexibility to savor these burgers individually, as part of a combo, or bundled in a box.
Tami Cunningham, KFC’s Chief Marketing Officer, expressed excitement about fulfilling customer requests, stating, “As one of our most requested menu items, we’re excited to bring back the iconic Double, this time with a sweet new twist. We’re sure fans will be rushing in to get their hands on the new Waffle Double and Original Double, alongside the returning Zinger Double. This triple Double threat won’t be hanging around forever though, so mark the date in the calendar and get amongst it.”
Enthusiasts can indulge in the Double range in-store or conveniently order for delivery through the KFC app.
This announcement follows KFC’s recent pop-up restaurant event, held last month to celebrate the launch of a new permanent menu addition.
