Food Safety Works, a leading food safety consultancy firm, marked World Food Safety Day with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness and knowledge throughout India. The activities commenced in late May and culminated on June 7th, emphasizing proactive measures in food safety management.
World Food Safety Day featured a pivotal webinar titled ‘Food Safety: Don’t Get Caught Off Guard,’ hosted by Ms. Sarika Agarwal, Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Food Safety Works, based in Bangalore. This session was designed to educate and prepare stakeholders on mitigating unforeseen challenges in food safety.
Continuing their commitment, Food Safety Works conducted a consumer-centric learning session on June 8th, titled ‘Eat Smart: Unpacking Food Labels Myths,’ spearheaded by Mr. Ramesh Agarwal, CEO of the organization. This interactive session aimed to clarify misconceptions surrounding food labeling.
The celebrations extended to include diverse activities:
- A nationwide Food Safety Essay Competition invited students from grades 7 to 12 to articulate their perspectives on ‘Food Safety: Ensuring a Healthy Future.’ This initiative aimed to nurture awareness among young minds about the importance of safe food practices.
- The Food Safety Quiz, open to students, professionals, and consumers, provided a platform to deepen understanding of food safety principles, handling practices, and label interpretation.
- Introducing ‘FatAFat Food Safety’ videos, Food Safety Works launched informative content highlighting key topics such as the ‘Importance of Waste Management for Food Safety’ and ‘Significance of Food Label Reading.’ These educational videos are accessible for broader community engagement.
Looking forward, Food Safety Works will host the second edition of the India Food Safety Conclave on June 21, 2024, at the Bangalore International Centre. This pioneering event will convene industry leaders, academic experts, and regulatory authorities to explore cutting-edge research, best practices, and regulatory frameworks in food safety. Notably, the conclave will introduce the inaugural ‘Food Safety Culture Awards,’ recognizing outstanding contributions to promoting and maintaining food safety standards across various sectors.
Through these initiatives, Food Safety Works continues to champion a culture of food safety awareness and excellence, fostering a healthier and more informed society.
