A prominent national fresh food manufacturing enterprise, supplying a range of deli foods and salads to major supermarkets across Australia, has entered administration, affecting over 500 employees.
The HS Fresh Food Group, encompassing entities such as HS Fresh Food Pty Ltd, HS Fresh Food Holding Pty Ltd, HS Fresh Farms Pty Ltd, and HS Salads Pty Ltd, announced the appointment of administrators from FTI Consulting last week. Headquartered in Tasmania, the group operates extensively across five states: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia.
Known for brands like Houston’s Farm, Sunfresh, and Gourmet Selections, HS Fresh Food has built a significant presence in the food industry, servicing major retailers like Woolworths, Coles, and IGAs nationwide.
Administrators Ben Campbell, Joanne Dunn, and Vaughan Strawbridge expressed their commitment to maintaining ongoing operations while exploring restructuring opportunities or a potential sale of the business. Mr. Strawbridge emphasized the administration’s objective to collaborate closely with the company’s management, staff, and stakeholders to secure a sustainable future.
The appointment of administrators was officially lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) on Monday, marking a pivotal moment for the company as it navigates financial challenges. Specifics regarding the number of employees affected and the financial standing of the business remain pending.
LinkedIn data suggests that HS Fresh Food Group employs between 500 to 1000 individuals, underscoring the scale of impact on its workforce amid the administration process.
