ID Food, a state-owned food holding company, announced plans on Monday to accelerate the distribution of chicken meat and eggs in efforts to combat stunting in Indonesia.
In collaboration with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), ID Food has completed the initial phase of food aid distribution and is now in the second round, having reached 17 percent of the targeted 1.4 million families. Sis Apik Wijayanto, the company’s president director, expressed confidence in achieving full distribution across seven Indonesian provinces by November.
“We are optimistic about reaching 100 percent distribution by November. Our goal is to assist 1.4 million families with chicken meat and eggs as part of our efforts to prevent stunting,” Sis Apik stated during a media briefing at B-Universe Media Holdings’s headquarters in PIK 2.
The distribution of food aid for this year commenced in March, initially focusing on 1,435 high-risk stunting families in West Java. Assistance has been provided to 469 families in Bekasi, 466 families in Cimahi, and 500 families in Depok.
Sis Apik assured that funding for the program is sufficient, sourced from Bapanas and the State-Owned Ministry. “We are thankful that the funding is adequate for this program. With continued effort, we aim to expedite the distribution of food aid so that beneficiaries can promptly receive assistance,” he added.
