CJ CheilJedang Corp., a leading South Korean food company, announced on Thursday its successful organization of the CJ Challenge Live Competition, part of the 2024 K-Food China Qingdao International Culinary Championship in Qingdao, China.
The CJ Challenge Live Competition is a key event within the Cuisine-K project, an initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing global chefs specializing in Korean cuisine. CJ CheilJedang provided sponsorship through their wide range of products.
Participants included both Korean and Chinese chefs who showcased their culinary skills using popular K-food items such as dumplings, tteokbokki, dashida, and various sauces. The competition featured an impressive panel of judges comprising professors from culinary universities and culinary masters from both South Korea and China.
“Korean chefs demonstrated the global appeal of Korean cuisine, while Chinese chefs showcased the localization of Korean food,” commented the judges, highlighting the fusion of flavors and culinary techniques.
Cuisine-K plans to extend its sponsorship of culinary competitions worldwide, with the goal of inspiring young global chefs to explore Korean cuisine. The initiative aims to encourage the development of diverse menus using Korean ingredients, thereby fostering the next generation of ambassadors for Korean food.
