I-D Foods Corporation is recalling Al’Fez brand Natural Tahini due to potential Salmonella contamination, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The affected product has been distributed nationwide and online in Canada.
About Salmonella Infections
Individuals who have consumed the recalled tahini and developed symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical attention promptly. It is important for patients to inform their doctors about the potential exposure to Salmonella bacteria, as specific tests are required to diagnose salmonellosis. Symptoms of Salmonella infection can often resemble other illnesses, which may result in misdiagnosis.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, appearing within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. Generally, healthy adults experience illness for four to seven days. However, in severe cases, diarrhea can be so intense that hospitalization is necessary.
Particularly vulnerable groups, including older adults, children, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems (such as cancer patients), are at a higher risk of developing severe and potentially life-threatening conditions.
Some individuals may become infected without exhibiting any symptoms, yet they can still transmit the infection to others.
