Melbourne is set to welcome a taste of Sydney’s decadent dessert culture with the arrival of KOI Dessert Bar, founded by the renowned Poernomo brothers and their mother Ike Malada. After six years of success in Sydney, KOI is scheduled to open its doors in Melbourne’s Queen & Collins Precinct on July 19, marking a highly anticipated expansion.
Known for its luxurious and artistic approach to desserts, KOI has garnered fame as a destination where culinary creations transcend into edible artworks. Inspired by nature and the evolving beauty of Melbourne’s vibrant arts scene, KOI aims to bring a unique fusion of taste and aesthetics to its new location.
“We’ve been eager to bring KOI to Melbourne for years,” co-founder Reynold Poernomo expressed. “The venue at Queen & Collins embodies the essence we’ve cultivated, a space where innovation, art, and flavor converge. We envision it as a place where every visit leaves a lasting impression.”
KOI Dessert Bar promises an intimate dining experience, accommodating just 42 guests at a time amidst a rotating selection of over 150 desserts. Central to their offerings are the ‘Edible Art’ and ‘Chef’s Table’ experiences, curated under the expertise of Chef Adeline Campestre, Gault&Millau Pastry Chef of the Year Champion.
Operating Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 10pm, KOI invites Melburnians to indulge in their array of indulgent cakes, dreamy drinks, and innovative dining concepts. Each visit promises a unique journey into the intersection of culinary craftsmanship and artistic expression.
