A popular yet brief venture into Chinese cuisine in Hamilton has come to an end. Dragon Palace, which opened its doors in the spring of 2024, has closed its location on Rymal Road after serving the community for just a few months.
Known for its classic Chinese comfort foods, including egg rolls, honey garlic spare ribs, General Tao chicken, lo mein, chow mein, and fried rice, Dragon Palace quickly garnered a loyal customer base in the Summit Park neighborhood.
In a heartfelt post on social media, the restaurant announced the closure, expressing gratitude to the patrons who supported them during their short run. “We will sadly be closing our doors. It has been a pleasure serving our dishes to our customers, who became friends over these past months, but it is time to say our goodbyes,” the message read.
The post further clarified that the decision to close was not made lightly, citing multiple factors that made it unsustainable to continue operating. “We are incredibly grateful for your support throughout our time, and we want to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. Due to multiple determining factors, it has become impossible for us to keep the business going,” the owners shared.
Looking ahead, the owners revealed they would be shifting gears to open a completely different business that aligns more closely with their expertise. Renovations are set to begin, and they urged the community to stay tuned for more information about their new venture.
The announcement was met with an outpouring of support from the community, with dozens of comments expressing sadness over the closure and excitement for the owners’ next chapter. “So sad to hear! I really loved your food. Excited to see what your next adventure is,” wrote one customer, while another commented, “We loved your yummy dishes. Can’t wait to hear about the new news.”
Dragon Palace officially closed its doors on January 3. While the restaurant is no more, the team behind it has promised to embark on a new journey, leaving the Hamilton community curious about their next move.
