The Taman Tun Dr Ismail Ramadan bazaar came alive under the afternoon sun, with a vibrant atmosphere that captivated both locals and visitors. Rows of orange canopies stretched along the streets, offering a visual and sensory feast for those in search of delicious iftar meals.
The air was filled with the mouthwatering scent of sizzling satay and freshly grilled murtabak, while customers eagerly perused stalls offering an assortment of traditional Malaysian dishes. Among the colorful offerings were golden-brown kuih keria, freshly made roti jala, and shawarma meat roasting on a vertical spit.
The market’s diverse food options reflect Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, as visitors exchanged friendly banter while picking up popular items such as nasi lemak, dim sum, and roti murtabak.
Jaya Shela Selvanathan, 40, a preschool teacher from Seri Kembangan, shared her excitement, saying, “I feel great. I feel so excited to see so many foods here. I bought ikan bakar and char kway teow. The prices here are quite affordable.”
Despite rising ingredient costs, vendors at the bazaar remain committed to offering affordable options. Anuar Saifudin, 65, who has been selling traditional kuih for nearly a decade, explained, “Coconut milk prices have risen. Prices of other ingredients have also gone up. But we try to keep it affordable. We hold on to prices that we can manage for our customers.”
Wong Joe Vin, 24, a content creator from Damansara, was impressed by the cleanliness of the bazaar. “The cleanliness here is quite good. I didn’t see much rubbish on the road,” she said.
The well-organized layout of the stalls, coupled with vendors’ cleaning efforts, helped maintain a tidy environment despite the large crowd.
Muhammad Danial Hakim, 24, a vendor selling lime and plum juice, observed the growing popularity of the bazaar. “On weekends, it’s usually packed. People have come from all over to experience this,” he noted.
As the evening descended, families and friends filled the streets, laughter echoing through the air as the Ramadan bazaar continued to draw crowds with its charm and food offerings.
