A product launch event was marred by a delayed food delivery from The Original Vadai, leaving 25 guests without meals and the organiser frustrated with what was described as an “unacceptable level of service.”
The $200 order, intended to provide food for networking opportunities, was scheduled for delivery to the venue by 3pm on February 25. However, the food did not arrive on time, leading to an awkward situation where the guests had to leave without eating.
The organiser, who contacted the company several times leading up to the event, shared that their attempts to get updates were met with silence. At 2:22pm, the organiser messaged Original Vadai to inquire about the delivery but received no response. As 3pm approached, repeated phone calls went unanswered until the organiser finally spoke to a staff member, who claimed she was on her break.
Further communication revealed that the delivery was being handled by Lalamove, a third-party service, and not Original Vadai’s own staff. When the organiser requested to speak with a manager, they were told that the person they had been speaking with was the manager. Dissatisfied with the response, the organiser expressed their disappointment with the company’s standards.
The food arrived at around 3:20pm, long after the guests had left. In the aftermath, the remaining food was consumed by five of the company’s staff members and taken back to the office for distribution.
The incident has left the organiser disappointed with the service, which was intended to enhance the event but ultimately fell short.
