A 36-year-old woman has been charged following a violent chopper attack at a cooked food stall in People’s Park Complex earlier this week.
The woman, identified as He Longfeng, faces one charge of voluntarily causing hurt with a chopper, an incident that took place on Wednesday at approximately 8:45 p.m. The chopper involved in the attack had a blade measuring 17 cm, with a 12 cm handle, according to court documents.
He Longfeng, a Chinese national, has been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a medical examination. Her case is scheduled for a mention on April 4.
Authorities responded to the scene around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, where they found two men, aged 41 and 30, who were taken to the hospital conscious. A third man, aged 42, sustained minor injuries and was treated by the Singapore Civil Defence Force at the scene but declined further medical attention.
Reports from Chinese news outlet 8World revealed that the front of the food stall and the surrounding alley were cordoned off by police. The area was marked by visible blood stains near the counter, with plastic bags, food container lids, and other debris scattered across the floor.
A middle-aged man was seen speaking with a police officer at the scene, pointing out the blood stains.
Under Singaporean law, voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous instrument such as a chopper carries severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments.
