California, March 2025 – Del Monte Foods, Inc. has initiated a recall of 197,808 cans of Good & Gather Cut Green Beans distributed through Target stores across the United States. The recall is due to the potential presence of an unidentified foreign object in the product.
The recall, classified as Class II, was initiated by Del Monte on February 12, 2025, and officially announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on March 13, 2025. A Class II recall indicates that the product may cause temporary or reversible health problems, although severe reactions are not likely. The FDA has not yet specified the nature of the foreign material, and the recall is still in progress.
The affected green beans were sold in Target stores in 21 states, namely Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Consumers can identify the recalled cans by the following characteristics: the size is 14.5 oz (411g), the UPC code is 0 85239 – 11628 9, the “Best if Used By” date is October 28, 2026, and the lot number is 7AA 418507. The distributor is Target Corporation, based in Minneapolis, MN.
Although Del Monte, Target, and the FDA have not issued specific instructions, standard recall procedures recommend that consumers do not consume the product and return it to Target for a refund or proper disposal. The FDA also encourages concerned customers to monitor updates on its recall database or contact Del Monte Foods directly for more information.
