In a significant development for consumers, The Quaker Oats Company has initiated a voluntary recall of its Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix. The recall comes after the discovery of an undeclared milk allergen within the product, which poses a substantial risk to individuals with dairy allergies.
The specific item being recalled is the Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix, packaged in a 2-pound cardboard box. The product can be identified by its UPC Code: 30000 65040, “Best By” Date: SEP 13 2025, and Manufacturing Code: BBD SEP 13 25 P.
This particular product has been distributed across 11 states in the United States, namely Arkansas (AR), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Iowa (IA), Kansas (KS), Kentucky (KY), Minnesota (MN), Mississippi (MS), Nebraska (NE), Utah (UT), and Wisconsin (WI). It has been available for purchase in stores since November 18, 2024.
The reason behind the recall is the potential presence of milk, which has not been declared on the product label. Although no illnesses have been reported thus far, allergic reactions to milk can be extremely severe for those with dairy sensitivities.
For consumers who are allergic to milk, it is of utmost importance not to consume the recalled mix. Instead, they should either discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Individuals with questions or concerns regarding the recall can reach out to Quaker Consumer Relations at 1-800-407-2247. The helpline is operational from Monday to Friday, between 9 AM and 4:30 PM Central Standard Time (CST). Additionally, consumers are encouraged to visit the USDA website to view product photos and stay updated on any further developments related to this recall.
