In a significant development for food safety, two separate recalls of pork products have been announced, affecting Oklahoma, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. These recalls highlight potential risks for consumers, although no illnesses have been reported so far.
The first recall involves 3,132 pounds of Ralph’s Circle R brand Garlic Bologna and Garlic Bologna with Jalapeños, produced by Ralph’s Packing Co. in Oklahoma. The issue lies in the presence of milk, which is not declared on the label, posing a serious allergy risk. These products have been on the market since September 2022, and there’s a possibility that they may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. To identify the recalled items, consumers should look for the EST. 51557 in the USDA mark. For Garlic Bologna, the affected lot codes are 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132, 3483, while for Jalapeño Bologna, the lot codes are 0804, 1074, 1224, 1233, 1354, 2184, 3374. The bologna was sold in 16-ounce or larger vacuum-sealed chubs or sliced at delis. If you have a milk allergy, it’s crucial to either throw away the product or return it for a refund. For those without a milk allergy, the product is considered safe to eat as the recall is mainly due to labeling issues. Retailers and delis are instructed to stop selling these items immediately. For more information, consumers can contact Ralph’s Packing Co. at 405 – 547 – 2464 or via email at [email protected].
The second recall, by Impero Foods, involves 7,485 pounds of Old World Italian Sausage (in links or ropes). The problem is that these sausages were produced without USDA inspection, raising concerns about potential safety risks. The sausages were shipped in 10-pound cardboard boxes to retailers and restaurants and can be identified by the EST. 10827 on the packaging. There’s also a possibility that some of these sausages were sold unlabeled at deli counters between October 2 and December 19, 2024. Consumers are strongly advised not to eat these sausages and should either discard them or return them. Retailers and food service providers are required to dispose of the product. For further details, Impero Foods can be reached at 443 – 695 – 5750 or through the email [email protected].
As always, consumers are urged to check their pork products carefully and follow the recommended actions to ensure their safety and well – being.
