Nestled within one of the 400 meticulously crafted chocolate bars available at La Patisserie in the renowned Hotel Bennett, celebrated Pastry Chef Rémy Fünfrock has hidden a golden ticket. This delectable endeavor, dubbed “Rémy and the Chocolate Factory” in a nod to Roald Dahl’s iconic tale, extends an enticing invitation to patrons—a chance to vie for a lifetime supply of desserts from La Patisserie.
The competition unfolds as a collaborative effort among the pastry shop’s dedicated staff, with Fünfrock at the helm. Beyond its promise of sweet rewards, this venture also serves as a platform to showcase unique and experimental chocolate flavors.
While Fünfrock holds the esteemed title of a French pastry chef, his passion for chocolate-making is akin to the artistry of crafting classic desserts. Speaking of his choice of chocolate, he remarked, “I wanted to use the chocolate from Valrhona, a company back in France. And they’re very close to my hometown.” He also highlighted the company’s commitment to combatting inequality and ensuring fair treatment for the cacao bean-producing workers they engage with.
Dressed in his signature white chef’s uniform, complete with his last name elegantly embroidered on the left side, Fünfrock proudly presented four of his chocolate bars, meticulously displayed on a mahogany table—a tantalizing glimpse into the world of chocolate delights awaiting lucky patrons.
