Manchester, UK – Ingredion Kenya, as part of a crucial public-private partnership, is set to provide a nutritious ready-to-drink “super porridge” to 50,000 malnourished school-age children in Kenya. This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Education through the National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya (NACONEK), represents a significant step towards addressing hunger and malnutrition experienced by school children in the arid and semi-arid regions of the country. Moreover, it aims to enhance school attendance and educational performance among these vulnerable populations.
With a vision to reach 2.4 million malnourished school-age children in Kenya by the year 2025, this project strikes at the heart of malnutrition challenges. By doing so, it not only promises a brighter future for these children but also stands as a beacon of hope for combatting malnutrition on a broader scale within Kenya and potentially beyond.
The launch of this ready-to-drink, nutritious porridge signifies a critical step in the ongoing battle against malnutrition, emphasizing the significance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to effect positive change in the lives of vulnerable communities.
