As September draws to a close, Cristal Wilson, Director of the McKinney-Vento Title I Homeless Project, is feeling a sense of urgency as she surveys the warehouse housing non-perishable food items destined for APS students and their families. Unusually, the shelves in the warehouse appear emptier than expected for this time of year, prompting her to issue a call for action.
Wilson expresses her concerns, “Our shelves are bare, and we are reaching out to the community for donations.” The challenge, she explains, is that donations have dwindled at a time when the demand for their services is on the rise.
Wilson emphasizes that the warehouse is open to all non-perishable food donations. However, the program maintains a list of preferred items that prove particularly practical for students and their families. Your contributions can make a significant difference in ensuring that students in need have access to essential nourishment during these trying times.
