Howell has just welcomed a touch of Hawaiian paradise with the grand opening of Shaka Café. Nestled at 1123 E. Grand River Ave. in the Promenade Center, this new eatery is set to capture the hearts and palates of locals with its unique offerings.
Shaka Café is the brainchild of two health-conscious couples, self-proclaimed “gym rats,” who wanted to share their love for nutritious and delicious food. Their menu features a delightful array of “super fruit bowls,” cold-pressed juices, smoothies, gourmet toast, grab-and-go snacks, and various other wholesome options.
The inspiration behind this culinary venture stemmed from the founders’ visit to Hawaii, where they discovered the charm of acai fruit bowls brimming with delectable ingredients like granola, coconut, honey, and other nourishing foods. It was during this trip that the idea for Shaka Café began to take shape.
Upon entering Shaka Café, visitors are transported to a beachy oasis, illuminated by natural light. The flooring is designed to emulate the sensation of walking on ocean sands, setting the perfect backdrop for a Hawaiian-inspired dining experience. The café’s interior is adorned with tropical decor, including a surfboard-inspired wooden table and a genuine palm tree, lending authenticity to the Hawaiian ambiance.
Additionally, Shaka Café pays homage to its Howell roots. A striking feature is a long bench carved from a single pine tree that had fallen during a storm. This fusion of local and Hawaiian elements creates a truly unique atmosphere for diners.
With a commitment to providing wholesome and enticing choices, Shaka Café is poised to become a cherished addition to Howell’s culinary landscape. This little piece of Hawaii promises to bring a taste of the islands to the heart of Michigan, inviting patrons to savor the goodness of “super fruit bowls” and much more.
