The Indian government has announced that the forthcoming second edition of World Food India (WFI), scheduled from November 3 to 5 in the national capital, is expected to attract investments exceeding Rs 75,000 crore in the food processing sector.
The inaugural edition of WFI took place in 2017, but in subsequent years, the international event could not be organized due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Prahlad Singh Patel, revealed that efforts have been made to secure the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the inauguration of World Food India 2023 at Pragati Maidan, with the President of India slated to attend the valedictory function.
The event presents numerous opportunities for investments in India’s thriving food processing sector. Minister Patel further disclosed that some companies have already expressed their commitment to investment, with formal announcements to be made during the course of World Food India 2023. This initiative underscores India’s commitment to fostering growth and innovation in the food processing industry, even in the face of global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
