In a bid to diversify its offerings amid the challenges posed by rising food prices, renowned Japanese fast-food chain Mos Burger has embarked on a bold new venture by launching Mos Records, a record label aimed at nurturing musical talent among its own employees.
The initiative, reminiscent of Nintendo’s shift from a struggling playing card company to a gaming giant, seeks to tap into the artistic potential of its workforce. Prospective artists need only be employed by Mos Burger to be considered for signing by Mos Records.
Selected individuals will receive comprehensive support, including guidance from producer Toshiyuki Ebihara, assistance with song and music video production, worldwide distribution across streaming platforms, and extensive promotion through Mos Burger’s established social media and conventional marketing channels. The label plans to kick off promotions with a debut concert held at the company’s test kitchen.
Mos Records is casting a wide net, welcoming applicants of all ages, genders, and nationalities, encompassing various musical genres and even dance. The label is committed to facilitating collaborations among musicians, fostering a supportive environment for artistic expression.
Beyond venturing into a new industry, Mos Burger aims to attract top talent to its workforce and enhance its workplace culture through this innovative program.
Online reactions to the news have been largely positive, with many commending Mos Burger for its creative approach:
“I appreciate that they’re promoting from within.”
“It’s refreshing to see companies exploring new avenues.”
“Could Mos Burger become a gateway to the music industry?”
“It’s a win-win situation for musicians and the company.”
“Building a fan base takes time; this could be a great opportunity.”
“Even if music doesn’t take off, at least there’s job security.”
“There’s likely a pool of talent already within the company.”
Applications for Mos Records will be accepted until May 31, with judging and selection processes slated for June. Production for the chosen artists will commence in July, culminating in a debut release scheduled for September of this year.
While currently exclusive to Mos Burger employees, the company has hinted at plans to open up the opportunity to the general public in the future.
