FoodieCon, a celebration of local food businesses, is drawing to a close today at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, showcasing a diverse array of culinary delights from over 200 vendors. From delectable hot dishes to packaged treats and desserts, attendees have been treated to a feast for the senses.
Among the notable participants featured on HNN’s Sunrise were Jadelin Chun, Chief Marketing Officer of Pacific Expos; Matt Tomita, proprietor of Chicken & Brisket at Pearl Highlands Center; Trisha and Glenn Kawakami, the dynamic duo behind My Sweet World 808; and Ikaika DaMate, the visionary behind tea purveyor Kihene. Each shared their homemade creations with enthusiasm and pride.
The Kawakamis wowed visitors with their signature snacks, including salt and vinegar pork rinds, furikake cheese balls, and a tantalizing assortment of mochi flavors such as lilikoi and ube. DaMate captivated audiences with his selection of Hawaiian herbal teas, featuring indigenous ingredients like mamaki and noni, while Tomita delighted taste buds with his culinary prowess, cooking up marinated kalbi, carne asada nachos, and smoked brisket fried noodles.
A highlight of the event has been the opportunity to sample $7 plates from a variety of vendors, offering attendees a chance to savor a diverse range of flavors at an accessible price point.
Admission to FoodieCon is priced at $6, with discounted rates of $4 available for military personnel and seniors aged 60 and over. Additionally, children aged 12 and under are granted complimentary entry when accompanied by a paying adult, making FoodieCon a family-friendly affair accessible to all.
